Eligibility of Admission

Eligibility for B.F.Sc. degree programme

Admission is strictly on merit basis and on the criteria prescribed by the Academic Council from time to time. The following are the minimum admission requirement for BFSc degree programme of the University.

  • A candidate must have passed 10+2 examination with Biology, Chemistry and Physics (BCP) or Agriculture, Chemistry and Physics (AgCP) from a recognized University or Board, or equivalent certificate under vocational stream in agriculture & allied streams as per NVEQF (National Vocational Educational Qualification Framework) formulated by MHRD.
  • A candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/DAC candidates) in aggregate in the qualifying examination
  • A candidate should not be less than 16 years on the last date of submission of application.
  • In case of candidates working as FD (Fisheries Demonstrator) in the state of Assam, the minimum qualification for admission shall be as under:
    • A candidate must have passed at least Higher Secondary/PU/PD or equivalent examination in Science group with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany and Zoology in place of Biology), with 45% marks in aggregate and must have passed in all subjects in one sitting.
    • Maximum age should not exceed 35 years on the last date fixed for receipt of application.
    • Should possess at least 3 years practical field experience.
    • Must be sponsored by the Director of Fisheries, Govt. of Assam for BFSc degree programme.

50% of the vacant seats in Fisheries shall be made open to the candidates outside Assam under special category on payment of higher fees.

Eligibility for M.F.Sc. degree programme

A candidate must have passed the B.F.Sc. of 4 years duration of this university or any other recognized university securing a minimum CGPA of 2.60 in4.00 scale or 6.00 in 10.00 scale or 50% and above marks in traditional system. This shall be relaxable for candidates having 5 years of service experience and deputed by the Govt. of Assam/ AAU to a CGPA of 2.30 in 4.00 scale or 5.70 in 10.00 scale or 45% of marks in traditional system. One seat in each of the discipline will be reserved for in-service candidate.

Eligibility for Ph.D. degree programme

A candidate must have passed the M.F.Sc. degree examination in the concerned discipline of this university or any other recognised university with basic degree in Fisheries Science with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 in 4.00 scale or 7.00 in 10.00 scale or 58% of marks in traditional system relaxable for deputed candidates having 5 years of service experience to a CGPA of 2.85 in 4.00 scale or 6.70 in 10.00 scale or 55% of marks in traditional system. One seat in each of the discipline shall remain reserved for in-service candidate.
